Premier League clubs are already gearing up for what looks set to be another January huge transfer window.

Top-flight teams spent a combined £1.9billion in the summer with clubs smashing the record for the most money spent in a single window.

Incredibly, spending was up by 67 per cent on last year’s total of £1.1bn.

Chelsea were Europe’s biggest spenders having forked out over £250m on the likes of Wesley Fofana, Raheem Sterling, Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

And the Blues could be set to splash the cash again for new boss Graham Potter with the west London outfit not guaranteed a top four spot.

Meanwhile table-toppers Arsenal are expected to dip into the market with Mikel Arteta keen to bolster his defence and midfield.

Tottenham remain desperate to bring in a centre-back, while you can be sure Newcastle will look to keep flexing their financial muscle.

Here talkSPORT runs you through some of the biggest transfers that could take place in January.

Cristiano Ronaldo – Chelsea

It remains to be seen what future Ronaldo has at Manchester United after he was suspended by the club for Saturday’s draw with Chelsea after his antics against Tottenham.

After failing to secure a move away in the summer, the 37-year-old could yet again push for a transfer having been a peripheral figure under Erik ten Hag.

And the Dutchman could decide to allow him to leave after Ronaldo stormed down the tunnel early during the 2-0 win over over Spurs.

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly was keen to secure his services in the previous window, but boss Tuchel was against the signing.

However with Potter now at the helm and the Blues struggling for goals, Chelsea have once again been linked with the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.

Serie A side Napoli are also being linked to his services.

Wilfried Zaha – Chelsea

Another player that could bolster Chelsea’s attack is Crystal Palace winger Zaha.

With the Ivorian into the final year of his contract, the Eagles could decide to cash in on him in a cut-price deal.

And should he link up with the Blues, he would provide competition on the flanks with Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount, Christian Pulisic and Hakim Ziyech.

Speaking of the 29-year-old on Rio Ferdinand’s Vibe with Five YouTube channel, The Athletic’s David Ornstein hinted Zaha could end up at Stamford Bridge.

Tottenham and Arsenal have also been linked with the player in the past.

Youri Tielemans – Arsenal

The Gunners were heavily linked with a move for the Leicester contract rebel in the summer.

It appeared that the Belgian was waiting for the north London outfit to make a move, but Mikel Arteta’s side never made an offer.

Former West Brom ace Hal Robson-Kanu believes it was an error made by Arsenal as he told talkSPORT he would have been “perfect” for them.

But Arsenal could decide to reignite their interest in him in January as they know they are just a Thomas Partey injury away from a possible midfield collapse.

And if Arsenal are still involved in a title challenge in the New Year, the board could give Arteta the funds to carry on their assault of the Premier League.

Evan Ndicka – Arsenal

As well as in midfield, Arsenal are also keen to strengthen at the back to provide competition for left-sided central defender Gabriel Magalhaes.

That is despite the Brazilian recently penning a long-term contract at the Emirates until 2027.

Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez was eyed in the summer, but Ajax refused to negotiate with Arsenal.

According to the Evening Standard, Arsenal have now turned to Eintracht Frankfurt defender Evan Ndicka, who is also in the final year of his contract.

A January move could be on the cards for the 23-year-old with Frankfurt said to be tempted to sell in order to avoid losing him for nothing.

And according to Sport BILD, the Bundesliga side would be willing to sell him for £13m.

Youssoufa Moukoko – Liverpool

Liverpool have been linked with a shock swoop to sign Borussia Dortmund starlet Youssoufa Moukoko in the past week.

Yet another player who will be a free agent next summer, the 17-year-old has chipped in with four goals and five assists in 16 games in all competitions this term.

Regarded as one of the hottest prospects in European football, it would be a major statement if the Reds secured the German’s services.

It has been said that the Merseyside giants are leading the race to sign him with Jurgen Klopp a huge admirer.

Moukoko is free to talk to Liverpool from January about a transfer, and they could decide to bring him in before next summer should they step up their interest in the teenager.

Alessandro Bastoni – Tottenham

Tottenham failed to sign the Inter Milan centre-back in the summer, with Spurs instead bringing Clement Lenglet to the club on loan from Barcelona.

Antonio Conte knows all about the Euro 2020 champion having managed him at the San Siro with the pair winning the Serie A title together.

And according to Inter Live, Spurs could make a £43m opening offer for the Italian in January.

Manchester City are also claimed to be interested in the 23-year-old, but the chance to reunite with Conte could prove pivotal for Spurs.

With Davinson Sanchez, Ben Davies and Lenglet all guilty of inconsistent performances, Tottenham know they must strengthen at the back.

Memphis Depay – Newcastle

Newcastle could look to reignite their interest in Memphis Depay with the forward a peripheral figure at Barcelona this season.

The Manchester United flop was a target for the Magpies in the previous window, but a move failed to materialise.

But having featured in just three games in all competitions so far, the 28-year-old could decide to make the move back to England.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Newcastle are plotting a January swoop for the Holland international.

He would then challenge Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak for a starting spot up front.

While he can also operate on the left wing if Allan Saint-Maximin is unavailable.

With his contract up at the end of the season, Barca could be willing to sell him on the cheap.
