Jalen Anthony Rose, a former professional basketball player and current American sports broadcaster, was born on January 30, 1973.
Together with Chris Webber, Juwan Howard, Jimmy King, and Ray Jackson, he was a part of the University of Michigan Wolverines’ “Fab Five” in college, which made it as freshmen and sophomores to the NCAA Men’s Division I Basketball Championship games in 1992 and 1993.
Was Jalen Rose a good NBA player?
Rose, who skipped his senior year at Michigan and played for six different NBA clubs, had a successful professional career. In the 1994 NBA draught, the Denver Nuggets picked him with the 13th overall pick.
He spent two years with Denver before being dealt to the Indiana Pacers for Mark Jackson, Ricky Pierce, and a first-round draught selection, along with Reggie Williams and a future first-round pick.
Despite his achievements in Indiana, he did not experience early acceptance. Under Coach Larry Brown, Rose routinely recorded DNPCDs (Did Not Play – Coach’s Decision). Rose has frequently voiced his displeasure at being used as a backup two-guard and small forward rather than as the point guard he preferred. Rose didn’t start to develop until Larry Bird came over as head coach, and it was then that he realised his best position was small forward.
